Monument Glamping didn’t start with a business plan. It started with a canvas tent and a family tradition.
The hunting tent years
In 2005, I bought my first Davis tent. Every fall, my family and I set it up in the Colorado mountains to hunt elk. Davis knows canvas, and those years, 2005 to 2019, gave us a freezer full of elk and some of our best family memories.
The bedroom that moved outside
In 2019, we were remodeling our bedroom. Wendy and I put the tent up in our backyard in Monument and moved the bed out there for a month. It beat sleeping in the living room, and we loved it.
When the remodel was done, we listed the tent on Airbnb to see what would happen. In two short months it earned $2,440.
From one tent to private-property glamping
That first tent taught us what guests actually want: a real bed, a private space, and time outdoors without campground chaos. Today Monument Glamping offers luxury safari tents and container homes on private property in Monument, Colorado. Each has a real bed, and guests get their own deck, hot tub, and fire pit.
What hasn’t changed
The Davis canvas tent is still at the center of it. Canvas gives you the feel of the outdoors, and the real bed, the hot tub, and the quiet make it comfortable enough that you don’t have to pack camping gear. Just show up.
