Every so often, something shows up on the property that we didn’t ask for and didn’t expect. This week it was a small collection of hand-painted rocks, tucked into the grass just outside one of our venues. A Colorado flag. A rock reading “Monument Glamping.” And spelled out across the rest, letter by letter: Thank You.
We don’t know exactly when it happened during the stay β somewhere between the fire pit and the hot tub, a guest sat down on their deck with paint and rocks and turned part of an afternoon into something quiet and creative. Then they left it behind for us to find.
It’s a small thing. It’s also exactly the thing we’re trying to build.
Monument Glamping isn’t a campground, an RV park, or an outdoor resort. It’s private-property glamping β your own space, your own deck, your own hot tub, your own fire pit, with the creek running nearby and nothing on the schedule you didn’t put there yourself. There’s no lineup of activities to keep guests busy, no shared common area, no rush. Just the property, the quiet, and however a guest chooses to spend the hours.
For some guests, that means sleeping in. For others, it’s the fire pit at dusk or the hot tub under the stars. And apparently, for at least one guest, it meant painting rocks on the deck and leaving a thank-you note made of stone.
We didn’t set out to create a moment like this. We set out to build a place where people could actually relax β private, comfortable, unrushed. The rocks are just proof that it’s working. When a guest feels enough at ease to spend an afternoon making something small and generous, unprompted, that tells us more about the stay than any review could.
We’re keeping the rocks. They’re staying right where the guest left them, a small reminder of what this place is for.
