Today, Monument Glamping has a float in the Monument Hill Kiwanis 4th of July Parade β entry #61 out of 109 β rolling through downtown Monument alongside a lineup that’s grown into one of the biggest small-town parades in the country. Somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 people will be lining the streets today, and for one morning, our little glamping business gets to be part of the parade instead of just watching it.
It’s a strange and good feeling. Most days, Monument Glamping operates quietly a few miles outside of town: eight private units tucked along Monument Creek, safari tents and container homes with real beds, private hot tubs, and fire pits, built for couples who want to unplug without giving up comfort. There’s no crowd out here on purpose. Privacy is the whole point β the property is yours for the length of your stay, nothing shared, nobody else on-site.
But today is different. Today we’re downtown, in the middle of thousands of neighbors, being part of the town that makes this business possible in the first place. Monument, Colorado didn’t build this parade for the businesses in it β the Kiwanis Club and this community built something that’s been called the biggest small-town parade in America, and every year it becomes more of a fixture. Being invited to roll through it as entry #61 of 109 is a reminder that Monument Glamping isn’t just located near this town. We’re part of it.
There’s a real connection between the two halves of what we do. The parade is loud, crowded, and public β everything a stay at Monument Glamping isn’t. That contrast is kind of the point. We show up for the town on the days the town gathers, and then we spend the rest of the year offering people a place to get away from exactly that kind of noise. Private deck. Private hot tub. Private fire pit. Just the creek and the quiet.
If you were downtown today and caught us rolling by, thank you for the wave. If you’re a local who’s never actually stayed at Monument Glamping β despite it being just up the road β this is a good week to fix that. And if you’re one of the thousands of visitors who came from out of town for the parade and are looking for a place to stay that isn’t a hotel room, private-property glamping might be exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.
