There’s a particular kind of regret that shows up around Labor Day. It isn’t dramatic. It’s just the quiet realization that summer went by while you were handling things β and the one night away you kept meaning to book never got booked.
As of today, there are three weekends left in August. If you’ve been circling the idea of a late-summer getaway in Colorado, that’s your runway.
Why late August is one of the best times to be here
The heat has come off the afternoons. Evenings along Monument Creek get cool enough that a fire pit stops being decorative and starts being the reason you sit outside until eleven. The hot tub is better in late August than it is in July, for the same reason. The light gets longer and lower. The property is quieter than it was a month ago.
It’s also, honestly, one of the easiest times to find an opening. July is the month everyone plans around. Late August is the month people forget to claim β which works in your favor if you’re the one who remembers.
What a stay actually looks like
Monument Glamping is private-property glamping, and the distinction matters. This is not a campground, an RV park, or an outdoor resort with shared facilities and a crowded loop road. It’s six acres along Monument Creek with eight individual units β luxury safari tents and container homes β each with its own space.
That means a real bed inside canvas walls. Your own private hot tub. Your own fire pit. Your own deck. A grill. Nature immediately outside the door and no one sharing your evening with you.
It also means you don’t pack for it. No tent, no sleeping bags, no cooler logistics, no setup in the dark after a long drive. You show up with a bag and a bottle of wine. That’s the entire ask.
Who it’s for right now
Late August at Monument Glamping tends to draw a few kinds of guests. Couples wanting an anniversary night without a plane ticket. Front Range locals doing a staycation twenty minutes from home. Families with out-of-town visitors who need somewhere better than a spare room. And a steady number of people who simply want one more real night outside before the school-year calendar takes over.
Monument sits between Denver and Colorado Springs, which makes it an easy drive from either. Close enough that you’re not spending the getaway getting there. Far enough that it feels like you left.
Three weekends
August 14β16. August 21β23. August 28β30.
After that, we move into fall β which has its own considerable appeal, and we’ll make that case when it arrives. But if what you want is summer, summer has three weekends left in it.
