Most of what we post here is about guests β the couples who book a night by the creek, the families who show up for a weekend of quiet. This week, the story is closer to home.
Our daughter gets married next month. And when it came time for her friends to plan her bridal shower, they didn’t rent a hall or borrow someone’s backyard. They asked to hold it here, at Monument Glamping, on the same property where Wendy and I host guests every week.
So one of our tents got a different kind of makeover. A floral garland went up over the wood pergola at the entrance. A giant BRIDE balloon banner stretched across the back fence, right next to the hot tub. The fire pit table and turf yard turned into the party’s main gathering spot, and inside the tent, a table filled up with sparkling cider, cold drinks, and a DIY craft station where the bride’s friends could make something to take home.
It’s an odd and genuinely good feeling, watching the place you built for other people’s memories turn into the site of your own family’s biggest one. We talk a lot about private-property glamping being different from a campground or a hotel β your own space, your own deck, your own hot tub, nature without the chaos. What we don’t always say out loud is that it’s different enough that our own daughter’s friends looked around at the wedding venues, the party rental halls, the usual options, and picked our tents instead.
That’s not something we could have planned for when we started this. We built Monument Glamping to give guests a place to slow down and reconnect. We didn’t expect it to become the place where our own family’s milestones happen too. But that’s exactly what a real property does β it holds whatever life brings to it, whether that’s a quiet weekend for two or a room full of twenty-somethings decorating tote bags and toasting the bride-to-be.
If you’re planning a shower, a girls’ weekend, or any kind of celebration and want a setting that’s more personal than a rented hall, Monument Glamping in Monument, Colorado might be exactly the private-property glamping site you’re picturing. Check availability and book direct at MonumentGlamping.com.
One month until the wedding. We can’t wait.
